Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City Tour
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a guided city tour of Kigali, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft markets, and landmarks that showcase Rwanda’s history and resilience. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight in Kigali.
Day 2: Kigali – Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, depart for Volcanoes National Park in the northwest of Rwanda, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. The scenic drive offers views of Rwanda’s iconic rolling hills and rural life. Arrive in Musanze and check into your lodge near the park. In the afternoon, you may opt for a cultural visit to the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwandan traditions and local community life. Dinner and overnight at a lodge near Volcanoes National Park.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Rise early for breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules. Embark on an unforgettable trek through the lush rainforest to encounter one of the habituated gorilla families. The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location, but the moment spent with these gentle giants is truly magical. After the trek, return to the lodge to relax. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 4: Volcanoes – Lake Kivu
After breakfast, drive to Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s largest lake and a perfect spot to unwind after the trek. Arrive in Gisenyi and check into a lakeside hotel. Spend the afternoon at leisure—enjoy a boat ride, explore local fishing villages, or simply relax on the beach. Dinner and overnight at a hotel by the lake.
Day 5: Lake Kivu – Return to Kigali – Departure
After a relaxed breakfast by the lake, begin the return journey to Kigali. Time permitting, stop for local shopping or a visit to the Caplaki Handicrafts Cooperative. You will then be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your memorable Rwandan adventure.
