Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa – City Tour
Arrive in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s vibrant capital. After hotel check-in, embark on a half-day city tour visiting the National Museum, home of the famous hominid fossil “Lucy”, and the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Continue to Entoto Hills for panoramic views of the city and a glimpse of traditional Ethiopian life. End the day exploring the bustling Merkato, one of Africa’s largest open-air markets. Overnight in Addis Ababa.
Day 2: Addis Ababa – Fly to Bahir Dar – Lake Tana & Blue Nile Falls
Take a morning flight to Bahir Dar, a picturesque city on the shores of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, enjoy a boat trip to explore ancient island monasteries, such as Ura Kidane Mehret, known for its colorful murals and religious relics. In the afternoon, drive to the Blue Nile Falls (Tis Issat), where a short hike offers a stunning view of the falls and surrounding countryside. Return to Bahir Dar for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Bahir Dar – Drive to Gondar – Castles & Churches
After breakfast, drive through scenic landscapes to Gondar (approx. 3 hours), the former royal capital. Tour the 17th-century Royal Enclosure, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring well-preserved castles and palaces. Visit Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famed for its ceiling of angelic faces. Enjoy the charm of this historical city and overnight at a hotel in Gondar.
Day 4: Gondar – Fly to Lalibela – Rock-Hewn Churches
In the morning, take a short flight to Lalibela, renowned for its extraordinary 12th-century rock-hewn churches, often dubbed the “New Jerusalem.” Spend the afternoon exploring the first cluster of these monolithic churches, including the iconic Church of St. George (Bet Giyorgis), carved entirely from a single rock. Absorb the spiritual and architectural significance of this site before dinner and overnight in Lalibela.
Day 5: Lalibela – Fly back to Addis Ababa – Departure
After breakfast, visit the second cluster of Lalibela’s churches or explore the nearby cave church of Yemrehanna Kristos (time permitting). Then, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa. Depending on your departure time, you may enjoy last-minute shopping or a farewell traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony before connecting to your international flight.
